UK FPV racing has never been healthier. After a quiet patch during the regulation transition years, 2025 has seen a surge of grassroots events, with organised leagues running from Aberdeen to Plymouth.
The big leagues
- BMFA FPV Racing Series — the most established sanctioned series in the UK, running regional rounds across England and Wales from April to October
- Drone Racing League UK Qualifiers — DRL's talent identification pipeline, with UK heats feeding into international competition
- UKDirtDogs Open Series — community-run outdoor events focused on accessibility for new pilots, no transponders required
Best venues right now
Indoor venues dominate winter flying: Unit 18 in Bristol, the Drift Circuit in Sheffield, and Velocity FPV in Milton Keynes all run regular practice sessions. Summer opens up airfields and farm tracks — the Oxfordshire Drone Club has secured a brilliant permit site near Bicester.
Getting started in racing
Entry-level micro-class race quads such as the Mobula 6 and the BetaFPV Pavo25 are the typical starting platforms. Most clubs lend sim sticks, and simulators like Liftoff and Velocidrone are widely used for gate and throttle training.
The FPVUK forums and the r/FPVRacing subreddit list active UK clubs.
